What is this site about?
This site is for bloggers and those interested in blogging as an exciting and effective way of communicating. Blogsolid is a growing collection of tips, advice and ideas for better blogging.

Categories
To make good ideas accessible to everyone, each article or “entry” falls in one of three categories:

  • Solid Basics for beginners and those interested in starting a blog.
  • Solid Growth for those who already blog and wish to improve their blogging skills.
  • Solid Power for experienced bloggers with advanced skills.

A word about the design
2007 was my fourth year of study in Graphic Design at CPUT. Blogsolid resulted from my first project for the year which also included an Academic Report about the influence of Web Usability on Blogging.

The inspiration came from nature:

  • Rock represents the strong foundation for Solid Basics
  • The organic nature of wood represents Solid Growth
  • Moving water represents solid power

The header features images corresponding with each of the 3 categories. A random image representing the current category is displayed when the page loads. This happens thanks to Matthew Mullenweg’s Random Image Script.

The logo represents the 3-part cycle of blogging:

  1. Message (what you blog about).
  2. The vehicle (your blog).
  3. The recipient (people who read your blog).
