Hey Jeannie, great example of "blogger's regret"! I think you made a good move by deleting your post and writing a new one. After all, you don't want to spend sleepless nights over an impulsive blog post :)

i recently did that...i wrote a post that was critical of a certain child's birthday party. i didn't leave any names, etc. but certainly left enough detail that if anyone involved had read my blog they certainly could have figured out who it was. while i am fairly if not absolutely certain that no one involved even knows i have a blog (my blog gets only 20-30 readers/day but I am working on getting the word out all the time) - - so i deleted the blog and wrote a post explaining why i did it. i actually had gotten 4 - 6 comments on the original post AND (*cringe*) created a poll concerning 'over the top' b-day parties for 11 y/o girls - clearly not my finest blogging moment. i left a mea culpa post in place of the original one. i should not have written the original b/c that's not the kind of blogger i want to be: so brazen to criticize someone publicly and then say 'hello' to them at the school the next day and expect that our kids would be friends? so, i did delete and explain and i think it worked for me. but your advice is sound, no doubt.

Hear hear! I just stumbled across your website and I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with this article. All too often I have seen bloggers moan about having their websites "found out" after posting personal matters online, but really, what do they expect? Deeply personal matters are for diaries, not worldwide internet broadcasts!
Thank you for this article which has made me think twice before making my first blog post, and thanks for the other useful articles featured on this website. I think I know a certain site which will be stored in my bookmarks from now on...!

Wow jazzi, that sounds like a hectic situation! What were you blogging?!

Sumit, I think mistakes really just prove that there's an actual human behind the blog.

This is happened to me many times. I just roll with it. I never edit or remove content from my website I publish erratas once in a while for big mistakes. Otherwise, I take the maddox approach. If you don't like it, don't read it.
